Developing your business strategy can feel like a daunting experience, but it is essential to drive your business forwards. Take a moment to consider where you are now and where you want to be with your business. This highly interactive workshop will give you the chance to do just that. This workshop will support you in developing a high level working strategic plan to achieve your businesses vision, through to prioritising objectives, understanding your competitive position and ensuring financial performance is optimised.
Whether your business is a lifestyle business, grooming it for sale or you’re planning your exit strategy, this workshop will take you through a suite of tools to develop the right plan for you.
The workshop will be delivered by highly experienced business leaders with a background in planes, trains and automobiles:
Dave Lees is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby within the Business Management School in areas such as strategic HRM, managing change and leadership and management. He is a specialist in supporting individuals in setting up small businesses, business mentoring for SME’s and coaching and developing executives and business leaders.
Sunil Vara has over 20 years of commercial working with senior management teams covering Strategy development and deployment, business transformation and strategic growth, delivering quantifiable and measurable results. Sunil also covers areas such as organisational design, visioning and scaling for growth, financial analysis and change management. He has worked with many manufacturing and engineering firms across the Midlands and continues to do so.

Enscite is a three-year collaboration between the University of Derby, Aston University and Derby City Council to support businesses in the planes, trains and automobile sectors to improve their productivity to facilitate growth and competitive advantage. It is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Company Eligibility Criteria
This workshop is for companies with:
- Under 250 employees
- Turnover not exceeding €50 million
- Trading office located in the D2N2 LEP area
- A business that is part of the Planes, Trains and Automobiles Supply Chain
Unfortunately Statutory Provision or Under 18’s are not eligible.
